Sex and the City is an American romantic comedy-drama television series created by Darren Star for HBO, which features beloved characters Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte. These four women are strong, smart and a dynamic bunch of New Yorkers, who despite their differences and ever-changing sex lives stick together through the ups and downs.
The series which is an adaptation of Candace Bushnell's 1997 book, debuted back in 1998, showcases some incredible outfits, courtesy of costume designer Patricia Field, who captures the personality, the stories, the minor details of the characters and applies that within their style. Some looks are arguably iconic to this day and that's when you know you've done your job well.. when the style/fashion lives on to this day and age, even all these years later. The franchise certainly held a high level of influencer power by creating trends, or have us witnessing fashion rules being broken and elevating the names of some much loved brands to this day.
Whilst I cannot always shop, it's best to set ourselves limits ladies (and gents) and as we've seen in the show Carrie learning the hard way of her overspendings and debt.. So (online) window shopping is the best way to fill that void, or help us rediscover/repurpose existing items in our wardrobes.
I wanted to find budget friendly pieces to recreate this look, however, not so sure about the detailing at the back of the skirt, however could opt for skirts that offer a bit of glitz, glam and sequin etc.
